Hair Transplant for Patients from Durham

Durham is one of the closest points in our catchment area. The train to Newcastle Central takes around 12 minutes and runs regularly throughout the day, which means patients can travel up on the morning of their procedure, spend the day at the clinic, and be back in Durham by early evening. Many of our Durham patients comment that the proximity removes a lot of the logistical pressure that patients coming from further afield have to manage.

Hair Transplant Newcastle serves patients from Durham city and the surrounding areas of Chester-le-Street, Stanley, Consett, and the wider County Durham north. The clinic at Merchant House, 30 Cloth Market, Newcastle NE1 1EE is approximately 14 miles from Durham city centre.

Getting Here from Durham

By train, Durham to Newcastle Central takes around 12 minutes on the direct service, with trains running frequently. Newcastle Central Station is a 10-minute walk from the clinic on Cloth Market. By car, the A167 or A1(M) northbound connects Durham to Newcastle in around 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. NCP car parks on Grainger Street and John Dobson Street are within a 5-minute walk of the clinic. As with all hair transplant procedures, patients should not drive home on the day of the procedure and should arrange a lift or use the train for the return journey.

By bus, regular services run between Durham and Newcastle on multiple routes with journey times typically between 30 and 50 minutes, though the train is more reliable for timed appointments.

Who Travels from Durham

Durham generates patients from both the city and the wider county, including Chester-le-Street and the area around the A693. The university adds a younger demographic to the patient base, though the majority of consultations are in the 30 to 55 age range. We see the full range of presentations from Durham patients, from early hairline recession addressed while it is still manageable to more established crown thinning that requires higher graft counts.

Patients from Sunderland also travel through a similar corridor from the east and we see both catchments overlap in the northern Durham and Chester-le-Street area. Details of travel options for that part of the region are on our Sunderland page.

Consultation and What to Expect

All patients begin with a free consultation at the Newcastle clinic. Dr Aziz Elgindi (GMC: 7450896) or Dr Mohammed Ditta (GMC: 7084372) will assess your scalp, review your hair loss history, and give you a clear recommendation including the technique and expected graft count. The consultation takes around an hour and there is no obligation to proceed.

Durham patients have the advantage of very flexible scheduling given the rail frequency. Early appointments, mid-morning, and early afternoon all allow a comfortable same-day return.

Cost and Finance

Pricing is based on graft count, confirmed at consultation. See our cost page for the full schedule and our finance page if you want to explore spreading the cost.
